When I was young, I grew up seeing my parents work hard for a dream that was never realised, all because they were given the wrong advice from a person who didn't know enough about the property markets

My parents worked hard for many years to save up for the downpayment for a terrace house because it's their dream to own a landed property that they can pass down to us children

But when the time came, irresponsible advise was given to them by a so called friend, and instead of moving into a terrace house that they've been eyeing for years, we simply upgraded to a bigger flat

Till this day, my father talks about how much he regrets that one decision that he made over 20 years ago - and how he wished that he could turn back time

Now that the prices have skyrocketed, especially for landed properties, he has forever lost the chance to own his dream home

I grew up hearing this story again and again from my father, and it became one of the primary motivations for me to quit my lucrative job in the banking sector to join the real estate world.

Because I understand what it's like to not be able to realise and get your dream home - and I also understand that most of the time, it has nothing to do with the person's financials or mindset.
